Leaving the mainland in our wake, we shall set our sails towards the western horizon and the wild islands of the southern Outer Hebrides! This will be one of the more adventurous trips of the summer, with potentially long periods at sea and out of sight of land. It is an opportunity to experience the ocean in all it’s wildness with an unbroken blue horizon.

We shall depart from Mallaig and sail for the Outer Hebrides via Canna or one of the other Small Isles off the West coast of Skye. Led by Sail Britain skipper and sailing instructor Oliver Beardon, no experience is necessary, just an adventurous spirit and a willingness to form part of an active crew. Once we arrive, we’ll have a chance to explore some of the UK’s remotest islands and learn a bit about their unique culture.

The trip will finish in Castlebay, Barra, from where the CalMac ferry departs for Oban.

The trip fee of £695 covers the cost of the boat, crew, all equipment and training you’ll need onboard, as well as food, fuel and gas for the week. Not included is your travel to and from the start/end points of the voyage and any expenses ashore, although these tend to very limited out in the wilds!

Please see this page for hints and tips about funding your trip if applicable.
